Was the Oil Rig in the Gulf sabotaged by competing foreign oil companies or Green-Peace type groups?

It seems so suspicious that right when we are trying to dig our own wells again for oil a major catastrophe happens and threatens all wildlife in the area. If it was a conspiracy to keep us so dependent on foreign oil, then all you would have to do is blow up the oil-rig, then let the disaster happen before your eyes. Soon, all the wildlife protection agencies would(and will be) chortling that this is exactly why we should never drill oil near our country, because "it will endanger all wildlife and fishing industry in the area..." Which it currently is. Once the wildlife people start on that route and they get the lobbyist to push the resistance, the hope of drilling here at home will be lost for years, and we are all back in the crude oil hostage pricing again...What is your take on that idea? Obviously green fuels are the ultimate way to go, but for the interim, drilling nearby will save us money...
