Windows 7: Make older programs work?

I have a program (maurice ashley teaches chess) that is compatible with windows 95, 3.1, and Macintosh. I want to run it on my computer running windows 7 but get an error saying the program your trying to run is not compatible with this version of windows. Is there anything i can do to get this program to be able to install correctly?
